SPPS Science Olympiad Places 3rd at Regionals

The SPPS Science Olympiad traveled to K-State at Salina on Wednesday, January 14th to compete in the regional tournament against 8 other teams. The team placed 3rd in a close race of one point to Chisholm Middle School of Newton, Kansas. Team members are a combination of 7th and 8th graders that compete in 22 science events that relate to biology, engineering, physics, and chemistry. The team took home medals in 11 events. 1st Place Wheeled Vehicle: Corley Becker and Riley Bontrager; 1st place Picture This: Rebecca Haverkamp and Kirsten Lortscher; 1st Place Dynamic Planet: Ainsley Nordhus and Angela Sudbeck; 1st Place Crime Busters: Hunter Steinlage and Riley Bontrager; 2nd Place Bridge Building: Angela Sudbeck and Emma Elder; 3rd Place Solar System: Dominic Hammes and Ty Noble; 3rd Place Experimental Design: Kristen Hammes, Nate Deters, and Michelle Olberding; 3rd Place Crave the Wave: Emma Elder and Rebecca Haverkamp; 3rd Place Elastic Launched Glider: Michelle Olberding and Hunter Steinlage; 3rd Place Can’t Judge a Powder: Ashley Hammes and Emma Elder; 3rd Place Bio-Processes Lab: Kristen Hammes and Ashley Hammes. @nvcs.
